Dr Tang Zhi Hao is an experienced orthopaedic surgeon with a subspecialty focus in foot and ankle surgery. He is recognised for his expertise in managing both common and complex disorders of the foot and ankle, including bunions, ligament injuries, deformities, and sports-related conditions. His practice is grounded in evidence-based care, with an emphasis on personalised treatment and functional recovery.

Dr Tang was trained in Singapore and South Korea, and held senior leadership roles in the public healthcare system, including serving as Consultant and Deputy Head of Department at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. Beyond clinical work, he is actively involved in medical education and research, contributing to the training of future orthopaedic surgeons and publishing in leading international journals.

Teaching and Research

Dr Tang is actively involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. He serves as a Clinical Tutor at:

He has also contributed as Local Faculty for the AO Trauma Course in Singapore, where he helped train surgeons in orthopaedic trauma techniques.

As part of the core faculty for the National Healthcare Group (NHG) Orthopaedic Residency Programme, Dr Tang has organised hands-on cadaveric workshops to train future orthopaedic surgeons.

He has published extensively in peer-reviewed international journals, including Foot and Ankle International, and was involved in the NHG Wounds iCare Collaborative (WiCC) Research and Clinical Workgroup.

Specialised Expertise

Dr Tang specialises in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of foot and ankle conditions, including:

Hallux valgus (bunions)
Ankle ligament injuries and sprains
Ankle arthroscopy (minimally invasive surgery)
Foot deformities such as pes planus (flatfoot) and pes cavus
Heel pain, including plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendon disorders
Ankle arthritis and osteochondral lesions
Foot and ankle fractures

He also has experience managing diabetic foot conditions as part of a multi-disciplinary Diabetic Foot Unit at KTPH, treating ulcers and infections.

In addition, Dr Tang treats a broad range of general orthopaedic conditions, including fractures, arthritis, sports injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, and minor soft tissue masses.
