Specialities

Achievement

Upon completion of his fellowship, Dr Yeoh has been focusing on how to achieve better surgical outcome and patients’ satisfaction by utilising minimally invasive surgical approaches, such as direct anterior muscle-sparing approach for total hip replacements and partial knee replacements. These surgical techniques enable patients to experience less pain post-operatively and achieve a more rapid recovery after surgery. Dr Yeoh was the first to perform total hip replacement via the direct anterior approach in Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) and has since performed the largest number of the direct anterior approach total hip replacement in KTPH. He also co-developed the enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocols for total knee replacements in KTPH. This enables patients to safely return to normal activities much faster than before, which has significantly reduced the patient’s length of stay in the hospital without any compromise on patient safety and success rate for the knee replacement surgeries.

Furthermore, Dr Yeoh is a firm believer of technology and he actively incorporates modern surgical techniques into his practice, such as computer navigation, robotics, and specialised knee replacement implants designed to replicate the natural movement of the native knee.

Experience

Dr Yeoh also has vast experience in managing Orthopaedic trauma, including surgeries for complex fractures, having spent many years working in high-volume trauma centers in Khoo Teck Puat Hospital and Tan Tock Seng hospital. Equipped with such in-depth knowledge and skills in arthroplasty and trauma, Dr Yeoh was able to handle various complex hip and knee revision arthroplasty surgeries. These form the pillars of how he spearhead the Adult Reconstruction service (primary hip and knee replacements, revision surgeries, joint replacement implants infections and periprosthetic fractures) in Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH).

Aside from clinical work, Dr Yeoh is heavily involved in medical education and training the next generation of doctors and surgeons. He was appointed as clinical lecturer for National University of Singapore (NUS) and Lee Kong Chian (LKC) School of Medicine. He also held the position of Associate Program Director and worked closely in the Performance Review Committee for junior doctors. He has published numerous papers in the peer-review journals and has been invited to share his research and experience in knee and hip replacements in local as well as international conferences. He will continue to mentor, coach and impart his knowledge and skills to the younger doctors and surgeons. He will continue to provide Visiting Consultant services to KTPH as well.
